I'm considering writing a children's nonfiction book. I'm not entirely sure how serious I am at the notion, as I never, ever thought I'd want to do such a thing, but I can see a hole in the market and rather believe it ought to be filled...and who better to do so than me? Er, right?
How to go about it, though.... I've written papers and reports and other nonfiction-y stuff for college classes, but in those instances I was gleaning from work others had already done. For a children's nonfiction book, however, shouldn't I be concerning myself more with primary sources? I'm just not sure where to find those...if they'd even be available to me.
Maybe I'll just start small, discover what I can piece together from the resources I have at hand, and if I can see a way to continue, all to the better. And if not, at least I'll have enjoyed my research. ...And successfully procrastinated on writing my novel, which I'm becoming quite adept at, if I do say so myself.
