sleep? soon....
I believe I am getting sick. Most unfortunate. And since I've no idea if it's a cold or the flu or just complete exhaustion, Sev's offer of Pepperup Potion is sadly premature. Personally, the idea of steam coming out of my ears sounds fantastic right now. Maybe I can mimic the effects with copious amounts of cinnamon? ::snort-growl:: No. Quite right, Sev. That would be foolish indeed. Sigh.

Needless to say, today's quizzes may be a little terse. Or rambling. It could go either way. Shall we?

Jonathan Swift

It seems you want to read something imaginative and thoughtful, with an interesting plot. Something that'll take a bit of brainpower and make you think.

I'd suggest:
The Ghost Writer by Philip Roth
Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift
The Crying of Lot 49 by Thomas Pynchon
The Wisdom of Crocodiles by Paul Hoffman
The Unfortunate Traveller by Thomas Nashe
Time's Arrow by Martin Amis
Slaughterhouse V by Kurt Vonnegut
The Which Book Next? Quiz

You're supposed to answer the questions with the sort of book you're craving at the moment, and I'm actually not craving a book right now; I'm quite pleased with the one I'm currently reading. So, my answers were a little imprecise. Still, this sort of book is definitely one I tend to enjoy. And I haven't read any of the suggestions---though I've read and loved Swift's "A Modest Proposal."

Also, many years ago, I received the Jonathan Swift Children's Bookseller award, as bestowed by my fellow booksellers at the closing of the Barnes & Noble where we worked. I like to think I've carried that delicate sensitivity to the plight of children into my current job. ::chortling and snickering:: Don't think I don't hear you, Sev!

You Are Astronomy

This world is not enough for you...literally. You can't help but wonder about what else is out there. You're the type of person who believes that anything is possible, and you'd like to prove it.

You are also quite philosophical. You spend a lot of time wondering about our place in the world, how the universe was started, and what the future holds. You may not ever get all the answers you seek, and that's fine with you. Questioning is part of the journey.
What Field of Science Are You?

Mulder would be pleased. :) I certainly do enjoy questions and philosophy and pondering what's out there. And, as my dad said once, I'm quite comfortable with ambiguity, so answers are not entirely necessary. Plus, stars are pretty. And places to stargaze are even more pretty.

Etheral Beauty

33% Water, 17% Earth, 25% Air, and 25% Fire!

You scored 33% Water! Superb!

You have the etheral beauty of a god or goddess. You love things that shine and shimmer, are soft and flowy, and have a dreamy quality about them. You gravitate toward natural fabrics such as cotton, linen, silk, or hemp. You love the colors of the sea like the deep blues and sea-greens. You love the see-through sheer fabrics that you can layer, or perhaps loose shirts and pants when you seek the comfy side.

You inner beauty shows a sentimental side. You have keepsakes and heirlooms and love things that have emotional attachments or a history.

With water emotions run deep. It is a feeling sign. (Astrologically signs for this include Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces.) Your emotions can be like a hidden treasure hidden below the surface in the subconscious. This may cause you to have some mood swings. But the beauty of what you are is that you will, in spite of fears, look inside yourself.
The Elemental Beauty Test

There's that water element again. And this is pretty much spot-on. I love cotton and wool, clothes with slightly romantic touches, and while I'm not much for layering or billowy clothing, I do like shirts and pants that stretch and move when I do. Also, I'm wearing a turquoise blue sweater right now.

As for the keepsakes and objects with history? Definitely. Ditto to the struggling with the occasional mood swing. And one of the things that shapes my life is the need to know myself, even when I'm afraid, even when I may not like what I see.

...Though, is that Etheral Beauty, as in related to Ether (or Aether)? Or should it be Ethereal Beauty?
