Can it be? Have we finally arrived at Friday? Is the weekend at hand? This week has felt both very short and very long. Which I am absolutely blaming on the fact that it's the Week of the Killer Quizzes. Because why not?
Are you taking your son to get ice cream on this hot almost-summer day, Sev? I believe he just finished school for the year, so a celebration is in order. Let's get through these quizzes and then you are free to revel in frozen freedom! ::uses parchments as a trumpet:: Doo-doo-do-doooooooo!
Yeah, I am! ...I mean, maybe not an enigma, but definitely growing with strange and bright things that blossom in hidden corners and sometimes baffle people. Also, mazes feel very homelike to me. The way you're close to nature but still in a space that's cultivated, where you can move around and explore but stay in more or less the same place or find privacy without being far away from others. They're also indicative, to me, of the liminal spaces between one decision, one path, and the next. Which is why I love Hecate, goddess of the crossroads, and why on a goddess application in one of those stamping communities I used to belong to, I chose a maze as my temple/sacred space.
There is a lot in this result that's off-base: generally speaking, I have structured my life in order to avoid being the center of attention or even noticed. Back of the room seating, quiet voice, only speaking up when I cannot bear to keep my thoughts to myself. I also find people fascinating more than I "like" them. But some of this feels very true. I do express myself with vivid colors. I do enjoy and thrive in groups where everyone speaks their minds, and while I fight this conviction, I can tend to think my opinion is the most correct. I do enjoy learning and hearing other points-of-view, venturing to new places, and exercising my curiosity in every way I can. I also love nature, and sunlight, and feel disconnected when away from it. I'm more of a big picture person than a details person, but sometimes I appreciate details all the more because I don't always notice them. And, yes, I do see myself as a bright and radiant person. (Can I be a John Singer Sargent's Impressionism, though? I love that guy.)
Rose Red and I used to pore over our Cecily Mary Barker fairy books, trying to decide which one we wanted to be. (We fought over Heliotrope a lot.) When I was older, I used Harebell—the Bluebell of Scotland!—as part of my email address, but I never really thought about Poppy. It's one of the official flowers for my birth month, and I love to look at it, especially in dense fields of bright, waving color. And then there's this description, which is very true, though since words *are* my means of artistic expression, they never really fail me. Sometimes I just have to write them instead of speak them.
