midnight madness
So, 6th HP book to be released at midnight tonight. And, of course, this means release parties. In bookstores, in libraries, in grocery stores....

Yes. I did just say grocery stores. Y'see, went to the supermarket today and found myself handed a Release Party pamphlet by a smiling Harry Potter. I then ran into Minerva McGonagall in the deli section and narrowly avoided bumping someone's broom in the bakery. Now this is no average grocery store---on the contrary, this is Food Mecca, the best of the breed---but even so, I cannot quite believe it's throwing a HBP party. I keep imagining kids and adults in all kinds of costumes frolicking down the canned veggie aisle.

Y'know, every time I see HBP, instead of thinking Half-Blood Prince, I hear "Harry Bloody Potter" in my head. Heh. Guess Sev must be rubbing off on me. ;)

Speaking of Sev, the poor bloke's running mad for lack of occupation. So I'm afraid I've had to give in and inflict a quiz on you folks. I tried to make it interesting, at least. Sev, m'grumpy friend, if you will? ::rustling of robes, crinkle of parchment,

Gets right to the point. Don't mind the mess. And... watch your head.

How Skary is YOUR journal?

I'm actually kinda jealous. Naperville is doing a whole downtown thing called Muggle Magic and dressing up stores to look like Diagon Alley is my understanding.

Wicked! I'm jealous too. Even though I have absolutely no intention of reading the 6th book for some time to come, I might just be enticed into attending such a soiree. Maybe I could get away with going as Luna Lovegood? I don't think I could pull off Fleur Delacour, but I might manage Narcissa Malfoy. Hmm. Are there any other blondes?

Do you have any plans to attend it? You'd make a most triumphant Tonks. ;) (Speaking of which, have you seen this (http://www.livejournal.com/users/potterpuffs/2517.html#cutid3)?)

Actually other than shutting down a couple blocks of downtown for crowd control, there wasn't much outside. I can't vouch for what stores did inside until I talk to Kim at work today (she got her book in Naperville). Not a spoiler, but are you sure you want to wait that long to read the book? i think you'd really enjoy this round.

The potter puffs are hysterical. I had to work last night as was alas unable to to go in costume, plus my is quite back to normal now. ::signs sadly::

Too bad. :( Maybe for the 7th book release party? Or will we be too old by then to go crazy? (Eep!) Re: the potterpuffs, aren't they funny? I'm (obviously) very fond of Fawkes...and I really, really like this one (http://www.livejournal.com/users/potterpuffs/1121.html#cutid1).
