adventures in beauty
My blue hair is all gone. Yep. Went to the stylist today and spent *four* *bleeding* *hours* while they attempted to remove the remaining dye (now pink, btw) and then resorted to redying my hair its normal color. Actually, it's not quite normal---gold instead of ashy---but I'm rather enjoying the change.

So long, blue hair! See you in twenty years, mebbe! ::waves::

Oh, since today is HBP day, I feel the need to remind y'all that I am *not* reading the book. Probably not for about two years. So, if you would, please don't Spoil me. ::begging:: Hide any spoilers behind a cut or warn me before you divulge stuff. Please? I already know almost all the salient plot points for OotP, even though I haven't read it. I definitely don't want to do that for this book. Especially since it'll be even longer 'til I read it than 'til I read OotP. :(

Thanks! (And enjoy, all!)

Are you one of those "Waiting to see all the movies first so the books don't spoil them?" Or a "Waiting till they are all out so no actual waiting" types? Damn, I thought you were reading them. Color me surprised.

The former is closest, I guess. Y'see, I didn't start reading the books until after I'd seen CoS. When I got to the part in PoA where Scabbers is Revealed, I realized how very glad I was not to have read the third book before I'd seen the first and second movies. I would've been preoccupied with the rat through both, regardless of my best intentions.

So, I've decided that I'll only read the book after I've seen the movie that comes before it. (So, no book 5 until I've seen the 4th movie, no book 6 until I've seen the 5th movie, etc.) The movies are sorta like vacations for me, and I want to experience them with the same mindset as Harry. Geeky, yes?

I suppose that if the 7th book is released before I can read the 6th, I'll break my own rule, just so I can go to one of the crazy release parties. Gotta do that at least once, right? ;)

Ya might want to seriously reconsider. I don't think 6 is going to stay in the bag for more than another 6 hrs or so.

How do you mean "stay in the bag"?

People will talk, and I think about this one a great deal. Also be wary of the msg boards as I a hear rumors of nasty spam spoilers.

Gotcha. Most of my OotP spoilers came from reading post-OotP fanfic. I'm completely avoiding post-HBP fanfic this time around...as well as any related msg boards and blogs. I don't watch or read the news, and I'm too poor to visit bookstores where I might overhear something, so I'm hoping I'm pretty protected. Thanks for keeping your spoilers under the cut, though. With any luck, the talk'll blow over sooner rather than later. ::crossing fingers::

This makes a lot of sense to me. I don't know if I have the will power to actually do it, but as I also haven't yet read OotP I think I'll try. Though I do have HBP tempting me at home on my shelf. But as I've already resisted the temptation of OotP which is on the shelf next to it, I think it will be okay.

And please, please, Miss Spoiler Queen- I mean czarina, I second the motion: don't say anything more about book 6. Or I will have to stop talking to you completely for a few months to avoid hints.

Yes! We'll be one another's support group! I've managed to pin Hermione and Elessar down about the fifth book, but I have a horrible feeling that as soon as they've read *that*, they'll be off reading the 6th book, movie or no. And as Elessar doesn't understand the concept of secrecy ("oh! i remember, isn't this the part where luke gets his hand chopped off?"), I need all the moral support I can get! No OotP! No HBP! No! ::slaps own grabby hands::

Sorry. I realize I'm kinda bad about the HP spoilers in RL, but am I that bad in general? Ok, maybe I am.
