unexpected all over
No sooner do I start to think that maybe---just perhaps---I'm reaching a place of comfort and knowledge in my job than the rug beneath my feet is yanked anew. In this instance, though, I'm happy about it. After serving as lead bookseller in charge of the computer/business zone, I have been asked to become the children's lead. It's not a promotion, not really, but considering how much creativity and upkeep and general knowledge is required in a children's lead bookseller---and considering I've worked this business less than two months---I'm feeling some promotion-like satisfaction is in order. Hee.

Even if it means I'll be scared bloodless for the next several months.

Oh, well. ;)

I second the congratulations! Being children's lead seems just right for you. And at least being scared means that you aren't bored. ;) Seriously, you are going to do an awesome job. They're going to wonder why they didn't stick you there two months ago.

Thanks! And you're right: if I'm scared, at least I'm not bored. :D As for sticking me there two months ago? Eep! The spirit was willing, but I think my intellect would've been utterly bowled over.

I have found out that the children's lead is the top lead position, though (ack!)---where they place people they're hoping to groom for management. (ack! again!) I'm glad to know they have such confidence in me, but...yeesh. I am so not a managing sort. If only I could channel the bossy six-year-old I used to be. ;)

If anyone would know the truth of that statement, 'twould be you, darling. I've worked so hard to eradicate that person just for your sake, and now I can't get her back. See what you made me do?!? ;)

At any rate, thanks for coming to visit, Mila. (And if you got a live journal, you wouldn't *have* to be anonymous...hint, hint....)

bossy younger sister
Yeah, sorry, I have to apologize for the lack of bossy older sister. After all, I adapted and have become bossy in my own right... perhaps not so great for customer service - but lovely for previous job angst. I'm sure you'll pull out that lovely 6 year old if given necessary prompting... especially since you'll have the inspiration of all the fantastic B&N youngins.
(oh and, I don't have time for live journals! - I'm a psycho customer service person now)
