Another meme. I know. But they're kinda fun questions...and I'm always curious to hear the stories behind the names people choose for themselves. Or even the names they earn for themselves. ;)

ANSWERS:

1. My username is in_omnia because of my favorite Gilmore Girls episode: "You Jump, I Jump, Jack." The motto of that episode's Life and Death Brigade is "in omnia paratus," which means "ready for anything" (or, alternately, "prepared for all things"). I just figured that's not a bad attitude to have. For me, especially.

2. My journal is titled In Omnia because...well...if it ain't broke, don't fix it. :)

3. My subtitle is ...do i dare to eat a peach? because it's one of my favorite lines from Eliot's "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock." I love that poem---the language, the rhythms, and especially the character:

"Shall I part my hair behind? Do I dare to eat a peach?
I shall wear white flannel trousers, and walk upon the beach.
I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each.

I do not think that they will sing to me."

4. My friends page is called ...talking of Michelangelo. because of another part of Eliot's poem:

"In the room the women come and go
Talking of Michelangelo."

5. My default userpic is nonexistent because, since my free account only allows me three userpics, each one has a kind of emotional significance: the artsy one is for when I'm serious, the Gilmore Girls episode one is for when I'm feeling daring or silly or lighthearted, and the various fannish ones are for when I'm gushing about something fandom-related. None of them is quite universal enough to be a default icon, although perhaps the in omnia paratus ones come closest.
