vague frustration
I don't know how people get from "hunt" and "fly" and "pack" and "paws" to Horse. Apparently there's something about being free-spirited involved...but I don't really understand where that exists in my application. And, really, I'm not exactly free-spirited. Nor am I skittish, stupid, fussy, fragile...or any other horse traits.

There's not a Sheep stamp, but there ought to be for all the individual thinking that goes on at that place.

Maybe they think you'd run back into a burning building? That's all I got.

It's as good as anything I can come up with. I suppose I'm sorta biased, though: I've had absolutely abysmal experiences with horses. And I'm allergic to them. So I'm rather aggravated that people are apparently reading my application (the application with liberal mention of flying and hunting and being a *predator*) and thinking, "Oh, yes. This girl's definitely giving off horse vibes." Wha...?! Uh, no. Not really a horse person. At all. In any way. Not even a vegetarian.

Do horses run back into burning buildings? That seems somewhat counter intuitive.

And it is frustrating when people don't seem to be on the same wavelength as you. Well, at least you'll never be a horse in any of our eyes.

I don't know that they run into burning buildings, actually. But most of them are absolutely stupid enough to do so. (grr...don't like horses...) And thank you for giving me a non-horsey affirmation. This is precisely why friendship is so important. :D (But if you want to see my application, it's here (http://community.livejournal.com/elementals_/213820.html), and the choices of animal stamps are here (http://community.livejournal.com/elementals_/204576.html). I'm planning to apply for a restamp as soon as it's allowed. They'll probably pick something else that's completely unsuitable for me, but I'll take just about anything other than a horse...grrrr.... See? Even my frustration is non-horsey in nature!)

Actually yes, whether it's technically stupidity or some sort of moth complex combined with panic, horses will often run back into burning stables once rescued.

I'm not sure I really understand the whole stamping thing though... I looked at the journal. and was kinda confused.

To be honest, I'm not sure I understand the stamping phenomenon, either. I think it runs along the same lines as memes and quizzes. Someone thought they were a good idea, once upon a time, and now they're there. So everybody does them. :)

The basic notion, though, is that you fill out an application and, based upon your answers to the questions, the community votes on a certain themed stamp. You get stamped with the stamp that gets the most votes. There are stamping communities for just about every conceivable aspect of the world/life/pop culture/etc. There are stamps for Harry Potter houses (are you a Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw?), which vintage movie star you most resemble, which god/goddess you're most like, and millions of other things.

This particular community stamps you, initially, as an aspect of nature. (I was stamped River.) And once you've been stamped as that, you're eligible to participate in the monthly themed stamps. There've been Natural Disaster stamps, Solar System stamps, Flower stamps, Gemstone stamps, and currently, the Animal stamp. I don't really have a good reason for participating, but it's mindless and it's usually fun...and I *am* the person who loves quizzes so much she has a week devoted to them each year. :) So, it's nuts...but so am I.

As for the horses running into the burning buildings, who knew? You are a fount of random, nifty knowledge, Czarina. And while the moth complex bit makes more scientificky sense, I like the stupidity explanation. :D But then, I'm biased.
