of books
Another review of S&S XXII has been posted at [livejournal.com profile] norilanabooks, and while I've some doubts about the reviewer's grasp of my story, I'm thrilled to see it described as "astounding." (Listen to me...don't I sound so blasé? Ha! As if! Squeeeeee!) And, if you're at all interested, one of the other authors, Jonathan Moeller, will be doing a countdown of sorts until the release of the anthology on November 15th. Each Wednesday, starting today, he'll be posting a wee interview with an author on his blog. Mine should be up in a few weeks.

But now! Memes! Quizzes! I have gakked many from the wondrous [livejournal.com profile] ludzu_alus!

Does sitting by a nice cozy fire, with a cup of hot tea/chocolate, and a book you can read for hours even when your eyes grow red and dry and you look sort of scary sitting there with your insomniac appearance? Then you fit this category perfectly! You love the power of the written word and it's eloquence; and you may like to read/write poetry or novels. You contribute to the smart people of today's society, however you can probably be overly-critical of works.

It's okay. I understand.

What Be Your Nerd Type?

And to go along with my Literature Nerdiness:

Your home is a

Magnate's Manor

Your kitchen is someplace you never go, because you "have people for that." There's a Chocolatessen, which is rapidly becoming your favorite room of the house. Having one is also becoming a trend among your wealthy neighbors. Your master bedroom is the size of a small barn, with carpet thick enough to reach your ankles. Your study has hardback editions of every classic ever written, plus a special edition of Rich Dad, Poor Dad with the parts you ghost-authored highlighted. One of your garages holds your collection of ferraris, and is measured in acreage.

Your home also includes a guest wing and private quarters for your servants. Your guests enjoy your home theater with hi-def plasma screen TV, and the thrones you watch it from. Outside is your hedge maze and gardens, meticulously tended by a team of world-class botanists.

Below is a snippet of the blueprints:

Find YOUR Dream House!

I'm so excited for that romance library with chocolate. And I'll be getting a lot of use from that Wallflower Wall. Maybe I can start a Wallflower Dance Party....

You can throw fancy-schmancy parties and balls, but you'll find me wandering the hedge maze!!

Maybe I'll throw fancy-schmancy parties *in* the hedge maze! Bwahahahaha. But don't worry, I'll be sure to raid the Alcohol for Whatever-State-of-Booksellerness-We-Happen-to-Be Fund for the fancy-schmancy hedge maze party.

Shocker eh.

You sure do love the spotlight and probably have a very out-going and loud personality. Or not. That's just a stereotype, of course. Participation in the theatre is something to be very proud of. Whether you have a great voice for musicals, or astounding skills for dramas/comedies; keep up the good work. We need more entertainment these days that isn't television and video games (not that these things are bad, necessarily.)

yes, but no, but yes???

Your home is a

Magic Athlete's Manor

Your kitchen is actually a GNC franchise, though all you really need are your Power Bars and Red Bulls. There's a pantry loaded with enough alcohol to survive another Prohibition -- which you do tend to worry about. Get help, man. Your master bedroom has an on-call masseuse and sports therapist. Your study has current issues of Sports News & Sports Illustrated, marked with a highlighter for better preparing your fantasy sports league. One of your garages houses your Hummer, and others contain your H2, and H3... with room for an H4, if they ever invent one.

Your home also includes a roost for griffons. You've never actually seen a griffon, but you keep the roost ready anyway. Your guests enjoy your home theater with 37 different sports channels. Outside is the moat that protects your home from goblin invaders and extended family.

And, you have a pet -- a unicorn named "Shadowhooves".

Your house is *way* cooler than mine! I'm coming to visit...I'll exercise on the Menacing Wide Steps of your Wizard Tower. (So cool! I want one!)

You got 2 ferrari's and a corner to sulk in. That's pretty snazzy. We'll build next to each other, and connect through a secret tunnel like the one in the library in Myst. I am so gonna have that in my house some day.

Awesome! Now we just need to get [livejournal.com profile] mneme_metis to build her house next to ours so we can party together. And, hey, can I have a branch of that tunnel extending to my hedge maze? Maybe beneath a piece of statuary?

the tunnel is like the Tardis, everywhere, anytime. Did you you see this season's ep "Blink"? FANTASTIC... And we get tunnel access to GD. This just gets sweeter!

Are we talking Doctor Who? I haven't seen that show yet. I keep feeling as though I need to go aaaaallll the way to the beginning---what was it? 1963?---in order to properly appreciate it. So...what's GD?

Yes, Dr. Who. The Tardis is the Police phone ship. You could totally watch the newest 3 seasons, you could go back to the beginging. GD is global dynamics from SciFi's Eureka. Awesome show about a wacky semi hidden town in which the world's most advanced scientific research takes place (under the DoD) and the Sheriff left to straighten out all of their genius induced town crises.

Oh, Scifi Channel! How I miss thee! (Even if thou *did* just effectively kill off one of my favorite Stargate: Atlantis characters.) One of these days I'll have to see if I can get ahold of both shows. After all, one cannot properly use the secret tunnel if one doesn't properly understand it!

Of course I would have to have multiple dance rooms. Where's my ballet studio?

Y'know, I tried and tried and *tried* to still tell the truth and get different results, but it kept giving me that style. Maybe us literature nerds can't help but end up with the Magnate's Manor. We'll have to create a portal connecting our Romance Libraries so we can share....
