around, around, around....
And so we come to the end. I'm a little relieved this year, actually. Not that it wasn't fun, but with everything going on this week, I didn't get to enjoy the Week of the Killer Quizzes as much as I usually do. Although I will say that I had a lot more fun today than I did earlier this week. Shall we, Sev? ::gramophone starts a crackling waltz:: I think we shall.

Strange Days

6 shaman, 7 reveller, 13 exile, 11 nihilist and 0 other

You scored highest in Exile, so your Doors song is Strange Days. It is the dark and brooding masterpiece that starts off the album of the same name, which is undoubtedly the most grim and pessimistic album the Doors ever recorded. Like almost everything else on the album, this song is about alienation and being out of touch with the world, but it is not so much about being different from other people as it is about being different from the world itself, being one of the countless people overwhelmed by the changing times and the general confusion and madness of modern existence ... which if anything has only gotten worse since 1967. The song sets the theme for the entire album, with its cover picture of circus freaks and bizarre performers. Strange Days is the most direct statement The Doors ever made about how people can feel like a stranger in their own homeland ... how the longer we live in this world, the less we seem to understand it ... how in the end, nobody really knows what the fuck is going on. And how we are dragged day by day into an even stranger future.

Strange days have found us. If you don't believe me, take a look around ...
Which Doors Song Are You?

Apart from the BS tacked on the end of my result about how he/she came up with this test and the rant right before I got my result about how only Bad Things Happen when you replace mathematicians with psychologists on a quiz website, etc. this was a really good quiz. I'm especially delighted that my result is different from the sweetness and light I usually get. I'm not a huge Doors fan, but I love "People Are Strange," and I definitely feel separated from the rest of the world often, so this is perfect.

You are the Tree Pose!

You are a well-grounded, down-to-earth person. Not much shakes you. You can remain steady through a crisis - and other people lean on you.

You have high standards and morals. You easily rise above pettiness. While people sometimes accuse you of being stubborn, you are able to shift focus when you need to.
What Yoga Pose Are You?

I was hoping for the Eagle pose, as it's tremendous fun, but I'm glad I ended up with a balancing pose. And I think it hits most of the highlights of my person, even the stubbornness. :)

The Honest Soul

You are a talkative, open kind of person. You wear your heart on your sleeve, and you trust people not to break it. In a way, you are as honest and trusting as a child. You are comfortable with who you are and have a strong sense of self, but you are also a little sensitive. Hurtful remarks, especially from people whose opinion you value, have the power to wound you terribly.

You tend to be open about your thoughts and opinions, and you find it difficult to hide your emotions from people. You like to share your thoughts, opinions, and emotions with people, and to hear theirs in return. When someone disagrees with you or offends you, you will take them up on it, whether they are friends or strangers. You don't mind a friendly debate, but become upset when things get hostile. You wish that people wouldn't take everything so personally, but simply think calmly about things.

You have a close knit group of friends and family for whom you would sacrifice almost anything. You don't like big parties full of strangers - you would rather spend your time with the people whom you really care about. You need a private spot where you can retreat when the world gets to be too much, but you want to be able to emerge from your "den" and find your loved ones there to heap love and affection upon you.

Your daemon would represent your loving, open nature, and he or she would probably spend a lot of time encouraging you to be independent and to do the right thing.

Suggested forms: Dog, Otter, Marmoset, Saw-Whet Owl, Songbird, Chinchilla.
The Golden Compass Daemon Test

Even though I didn't enjoy the Golden Compass books, I can't help occasionally pondering what form my daemon would take. And this is an *awesome* way to find out. Everything in this result is true, but I'm especially impressed by the bit about not taking things personally. I can't count how many times in the past few weeks I've thought about that. At any rate, given the recommended forms, I think I'd probably have a large dog or a songbird as a daemon. Maybe a Rottweiler or a Blackbird?

The Victorian Era

Your tastes are always changing, but one thing's certain; you always look impeccable, no matter what you wear. You like a guy who will play the Prince Charming, diamond ring and all, and who doesn't? There's a lightheartedness about you that makes you very likeable, but you also have a subtle sex appeal. You love a good story, no matter how far-fetched, and are good at telling them yourself.
In Which Era Do You Belong?

I was expecting to get the Edwardian era, but this description fits me very well. And much though I know I'd hate to wear all the corsets and bustles and crinolines and all, I do love the way the Victorians dressed.

"Once I had a little game ... I used to crawl back in my brain ...
I think you know the game I mean ... I mean the game called GO INSANE!"

You did not score a high prevalence of any one single variable, and your results don't fit into any of the other categories, so I'm going to have to give you the most basic and simple Doors song on the list. This is the very first track The Doors ever recorded, a goofy 1950s-style piano boogie of all things. Rudimentary, unprofessional, and naive ... a low quality recording of ear-grating amateur garage rock by a bunch of stoned kids, something that no self-respecting radio station would have ever played. And it's ABSOLUTELY FUCKING AWESOME!!! The Doors themselves liked it so much that they used it as part of their live epic "The Celebration of the Lizard" (the section called "A Little Game" is basically just a musically simplified version of Go Insane with the exact same lyrics). If you want to hear the completed original version, which is way cooler, check out The Doors Boxset. There has to be something in the world that's more awesome than amateur Garage Rock. I just can't think of what it could be.

If this score indicates anything about you, it suggests you are very stable and avoid excesses, which is the exact opposite of Jim Morrison's philosophy -- hence your lack of the four variables. Let's face it, Morrison was crazy. If he wasn't, do you think he could have given us all that awesome music? Don't get me wrong ... it's good to be in control of your life and to exercise moderation. But remember, even moderation is only good in moderation. The world itself often doesn't make sense, so approaching it from a purely logical position 100% of the time, with no variation whatsoever, is to invite disaster. You have to mix it up a little sometimes. Being crazy, to a certain point, makes a weird sort of sense. In certain circumstances it can even be a necessity. As Frank Zappa once said, "Without deviation from the norm, progress is not possible."

This score is not meant to suggest that you're crazy. If anything, it suggests you could actually be a little too sane. "Go Insane" isn't my assessment ... it's my ADVICE. Take it with a grain of salt.

And whatever you choose to lace the salt with is entirely up to you. ;-)

Yeah. Not really. If this quiz about THE DOORS has made me out to be some sort of stable sane person, then this quiz has no idea what it's talking about. Apparently, I'm my own variety of bat nuts insane. :)

You are the BOW POSE.
You are an open hearted person. You seek connections and make them easily.
You are naturally generous - especially with your love and your time.

You have a knack for thinking up interesting ideas. You are an inventor and a creator.
You approach everything in life with a relaxed attitude. You accept what you can't change.

Um. I am incredibly resistant to change - at least at work. Unless I'm the one suggesting and implementing the change.

It's a little odd that your so-called perfect sanity would be represented by a "go insane" song. I think there must be a hidden message in that somewhere. And you *are* an inventor and a creator, so maybe you just accept the natural laws that you can't change? :)

Independent Soul
You are calm and logical, but not unemotional. You are an introvert, at heart, preferring to read alone than be subjected to the crush and noise of a big party or bar. You have a few friends and family, whose presence you welcome - to a point. Even they can wear on your nerves eventually, and you need to retreat back into your personal space for a while so you can recharge. Your energy comes in bursts, after which you need a long nap or a couple of evenings at home to recuperate.

You are comfortable with yourself, and reasonably confident. You want the friendship and goodwill of others, but you are not willing to sacrifice your principles in order to get it. If your close friends need something that you can provide, however, you will be the first to offer it.

You are a good and sympathetic listener, and are aware of your friend's emotional states. With your very close friends, you will open up, but rarely - you don't like to burden people with your problems. At the same time, though, you are honest and are not willing to alter the truth for the sake of convenience. Among strangers you are reserved, and may resort to making jokes to disguise your true feelings.

While you are not afraid of conflict, you do not seek it, either. When you are hurt or insulted, you feel that you have a choice to make. You can choose to take the up on it and defend yourself, or you can let it pass. Your decision may depend on how well you know the person, how personally you take the insult, or simply what mood you are in that day. Your friends may not always know how you are going to react, for that reason. Whatever you reaction, though, you will be logical, rational and unnervingly accurate: a measured strike.

Your daemon's form would represent your calm, introverted nature, your cool logic, and your impatience with crowds of people. He or she would probably whisper ironic comments in your ear, give logical advice and try to hide his or her soft side from everyone, even you.

Suggested forms: Peregrine Falcon, Snowy Owl, Snow Leopard, Siberian Tiger, Osprey.

This is right on. Uncannily so. I'd go with the falcon or osprey. Really, though - a lot of this is how I think of myself.

The Regency Era.
You appreciate the simpler things, and you alter your body's natural shape for no man. You would much rather walk through an open meadow than a fancy garden any day, and barefoot at that! Modesty, comfort and sunburn protection are you main concerns when it comes to clothing. You love poetry, and are whimsically romantic. Your dream is to someday find a way to jump into a Jane Austen novel. Until then, you feed your addiction with the Pride & Prejudice Special Edition DVD.

And Zombies.

And ZOMBIES!! :D Perfect. And I'm actually rather amazed by the Daemon quiz...I've made everyone I know take it, and so far it's been spot on every single time. And I think I'll definitely go with a red-winged blackbird for my daemon. :)

Also, as for your daemon... I could see you as a red-winged blackbird. Because you do have that bit of flash and color.

PEACE FROG

16 shaman, 1 reveller, 7 exile, 15 nihilist and 0 other

"Indians scattered on dawn's highway bleeding ... ghosts crowd the young child's fragile eggshell mind"

This is the song where Jim Morrison finally sings about the infamous event from his childhood that changed his life, when his family came across the bus crash in New Mexico and saw all of the dying American Indians scattered across the highway. When, according to Morrison, he looked into the eyes of one of the Indians as the man died, and he felt the Indian's soul enter him and merge with his ...

Since your score was high in both Shaman and Nihilist, this song -- and this mystical event in particular -- just seems right. Not to mention the rest of the lyrics, about blood in the streets and the terrible summer of riots and chaos. It contains elements of both new understanding (shamanistic) and of death and destruction (nihilistic), and combines these two themes in various ways. I still wonder why, out of all the mystical and enigmatic songs the Doors made, Morrison chose this one to relate his childhood "ghost story" and the event that changed his life and put him on the road to his strange, beautiful, tragic destiny.

You Are Warrior II

You are confident and brave. Failure is not an option for you.

You aren't easily intimidated or scared off. You will stand and fight.

You have more endurance than anyone you know. You have a will of steel.

When other people are giving up, you're the one just getting started.

Your result for The Golden Compass Daemon Test...

Social Joker Soul

You an an extroverted, playful and confident sort of person. You seek out excitement, and you love to be right in the thick of things. You are enthusiastic, garrulous, and you love to attend large social gatherings. You love to laugh. If you spend too much time at home, away from friends and fun, you tend to "fade", becoming tired and a little depressed. A fun night out with your friends soon re-energizes you, though.

You make friends easily, and you probably jump between several groups of people. You probably have a group of friends for every need - the friends you drink with, the friends you jam with, the friends you talk with about the meaning of life... You blend in with each group of people, showing your sensitive side when you are with certain friends, and hiding it from others. You love to meet new people, and to make new friends. However, you are not a slave to popularity. You will speak your mind to defend yourself or one of your friends if necessary. You are no shrinking violet, and you are more than capable of fighting your way out of a tight corner.

That being said, your confidence and your enthusiasm for fun can sometimes lead to your making thoughtless comments which hurt or insult people. These people, however, are probably over-sensitive squares who don't appreciate your sense of humour. You don't have much time for people like that, anyway.

Your daemon's form would represent your social, playful, yet honest personality. He or she would probably urge you to create further mayhem, or would make snide comments in your ear about the people you meet on a daily basis.

Suggested forms:

Toucan, Crow, Macaque or Bonobo, African Wild Dog, Macaw.

I think it would be totally fun to have bird Daemon. But I only vaguely see myself in the Regency Period.

Yeah, I don't see you as much of a Regency chick, either, but the Warrior II and the Social Joker Soul seem to fit you pretty well. And for your daemon, would it be a Toucan, Crow, or Macaw? (I'm liking Toucan, but then I really like that picture, so I might be biased.)
