wishing they were real
Whilst trying to keep my mind engaged at work today, I spent some time scrolling aimlessly through my journal, rereading entries, checking on communities, and pondering changing out my icons. Upon seeing my "All I want for Christmas is... Methos" icon, though, I started thinking about favorite fictional characters.

Does anyone have any fictional characters you would really, really love to meet? Characters that spoke to you or had a deep impact on your life or with whom you fell in love? I have a list of my own---it's surprisingly short, considering all the fictional characters I've encountered in my life---but I was curious about who might be on other people's lists.

Harimad-sol from Robin McKinley's The Blue Sword

Vanyel from Mercedes Lackey's Last Herald Mage trilogy

George from Tamora Pierce's Alanna books

Jacky Faber from LA Meyer's Bloody Jack books

Can I be salacious and include Angel and Spike and Giles and Captain Mal Reynolds and Kaylee and Wash? :)

You can be as salacious as you want. ;) (Especially since I love Mal and Wash, myself.) And while it's been a looooong time since I've read their books, I remember Harimad-sol and George very, very well. Especially George...who may be almost entirely responsible for my liking the name "George" so very much. (Which would explain a lot of my crush on George Weasley---but not Fred!---now that I think about it. :D)

Um, I really like Claudia on Warehouse 13. I think she'd be a blast to hang out with. She's all adventure enthusiasm and ridiculous IQ.

Captain Jean-Luc Piccard, because duh, I could be in the 24th century. And maybe Capt. Janeway (but that would be episode dependent)

And Laura Roslin and Starbuck from Battlestar. Just 'cuz.

Oh, I love Claudia! She's so snappy. :D And, of course, Picard. Actually, I think at various points in my life, I've wanted to meet every single one of the characters on ST:TNG. Except maybe Worf. I don't know that I ever really forgave him for separating Troi and Riker for so long....

As for The Doctor, is there one in particular you'd want to meet? Or, since they're essentially the same person, does it matter?

Oooooh. Which Doctor. I am most familiar with 9 & 10, Tennent and Eccelsten. But Doc w/ the Scarf, number 3? was always a hoot. And I think he was the one who traveled with Sarah Jane. And as to the least like to meet TNG charater, maybe Riker. Towards the end, he just seems to have devolved into an ass, or Jonathan Frakes.
