lost was the key
I just discovered a library-related spoof of the Old Spice commercials. I love it! I think that may become my go-to video for those moments when I just need a laugh.

Day 09: An artist more people should know about
I'm going to cheat a little bit on this question, because while there are a few artists/bands that I wish people respected or knew about more---Gary Jules, the BeeGees, America---what I really wish I could introduce people to is actually just a one-off album by two artists working while their band was on hiatus:

Blue Jays - Justin Hayward & John Lodge

Justin Hayward & John Lodge are members of The Moody Blues, but while the band was taking a break, they worked alone to produce Blue Jays. It echoes much of the romantic, dramatic rock sound they created with The Moody Blues, but there's something---a vulnerability, a majesty, I'm not sure---that sets it apart as a work in its own right. Part of me appreciates that not many people know about the album---an element of rarity and secrecy suits it---but I enjoy it so much that I wish more people could share the experience.

I love watching Old Spice man commercials, and the library spoof is pretty funny. I just imagine it being fun to make those commercials.

And I'll have to try and find the album somewhere. The way you describe it really conveys how much you enjoy it and it makes me very curious to listen to it. I only know a couple Moody Blues songs, but I like the ones I know. I wonder how the album will feel to someone who doesn't know their other work.

(Also, I have several friends who really like the BeeGees, and I definitely have a better appreciation for the band because of them.)

I'm curious how the album sounds to a newcomer, as well. Nifty thought. You might be able to find the CD version through interlibrary loan, but almost all of the songs are actually on YouTube. (Two of my favorites, if you want a sample, are "I Dreamed Last Night" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFqkEM7s134) and "Who Are You Now." (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSosjEt6_xM)) And yay for the BeeGees! I love them so much that I actually dance in the car when their songs come on while I'm driving...which earns me some odd looks from other motorists, believe me. ;)
