never been done
Thanks to the wonderful Lissa, I have a nifty video to share with anyone who loves words, ending their sentences with prepositions, and/or Stephen Fry as much as I do. And if you are slightly fascinated with typography, all to the better!

Day 20: Favorite artist to see live
I've no idea. Almost all of the live music I've experienced has been part of a musical, in a wine bar, or rocking a dance club. I suppose I'd like to see someone who can put on a good show, but I'm not altogether convinced I'd really enjoy simply watching someone sing. From what I've heard, concerts are deafening, you can't really move, and there are more drunk/high people than you encounter at a college football game. That sounds more aggravating than inspiring, hardly what I'd want to get out of the live music experience.

I have attended one concert that you would probably have really liked.

I don't know if you ever listened to Jump, Little Children (who have disbanded) while you were living here, or if you ever saw any plays at the Trustus Theatre downtown, but JLC put on an amazing concert there several years ago. JLC put on a good show in their regular concerts, but they did tend to be fairly large crowds (not as big, of course, as you get with huge bands like Dave Matthews) of somewhat inebriated people.

The concert they put on at the Trustus - which is a smaller venue - was an acoustic set backed by a string quartet from USC in front of a rather intimate crowd of only about 100. Since it was in a theatre, we were all seated and since it was a small group, the audience was pretty much just die-hard fans of JLC. There was alcohol available, but no rowdiness and everyone had their own seat so no jostling crowd or loud talking to contend with. We were enthusiastically appreciative - but appropriately appreciative - with our clapping and whistling and occasional singing along.

I think this is the kind of concert you should look for. :) It was an amazing experience.

This does sound more my speed, definitely. I don't mind the appreciation, even if it's loud, as long as I'm not getting pushed around, trodden upon, or puked on. I'll have to see if I can find something like this for my first proper (rock/pop) concert experience. :)
