it wouldn't be make-believe

Day 24: A great song to dance to
With a partner, I love dancing to Bobby Darin's "Beyond the Sea." But when dancing by myself, and when I'm in the mood to trot out my bare minimum of dance training, I love Ella Fitzgerald's version of "It's Only a Paper Moon." I prefer the recording from Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Harold Arlen Songbook, but I was only able to find a small snippet of it on Verve Music Group's page for that album. I hope it's enough to give you a sense of the song.

Sigh. Someone needs to invite me to a wedding. That's always the best environment for dancing: fun music, room to be dipped by your partner, merry people all too willing to humiliate themselves....

Ooh, Ella Fitzgerald! What a classy pick, compared to mine. :) I love weddings too, especially when I know a lot of the other guests. Joy + romance + open bar = good times!

The open bar helps a lot! ;) And, yeah, Ella Fitzgerald helps me remember the handful of jazz dance moves I learned almost 15 years ago. Otherwise, as long as it's a song I know, I'm going to love dancing to it. Especially if I get to shake my hips! (Fugee's "Killing Me Softly" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YAEWrnOtrY) and No Doubt's "Hella Good" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QtTj4cramPM&ob=av2e) were close runners-up.)

Yes, definitely much classier then my pick. Both great songs! But I'm with you on if I know the song, I'll likely dance to it. Sometimes dancing for me depends more on the mood I'm in then the song that's playing, though a good song doesn't hurt.

Too true. Many is the time that I've made use of the dance mood regardless of the music playing. (Usually that involves me jumping up and down and shaking my head a lot. Can't go wrong with some crazy jumping-hair-toss dancing, no matter what song is playing....)
