welcome to storybrooke
Has anyone watched the series premiere of Once Upon a Time? I have to admit I'm kind of loving it---cheesy CGI, gold body glitter, and irritating Spanish accents (from Bra'tac) notwithstanding. And is it just me, or might the hot sheriff turn out to be the Big Bad Wolf à la Fables?

I watched it too! The CGI was really cheesy...I was kind of surprised it passed muster on network television! I'm not 100% sold on the series, but I'll probably watch a few more episodes before I decide either way.

I think I'm a sucker for cheesy faery tale stuff---must be all those fantasy films full of claymation and awkward blue screen I watched as a kid---and I love playing spot-the-faery-tale-character. :) So chances are good I'll fall in love with this show just in time for them to cancel it. Like every other weird, fantasy show ABC has ever premiered. (Alas, Pushing Daisies, alas.)

I miss Pushing Daisies so much! But I have to say I'm in the not totally sold camp on Once Upon a Time. I heard ABC had bought the rights to Fables so I was really looking forward to it but I guess I'm disappointed that it seems less entertaining than Fables so far. But did you see Grimm tonight? Even though it's much darker, I think I'm enjoying that much more.

I haven't seen Grimm yet, although it's on my to-watch list so we shall see! It's interesting that ABC bought the rights to Fables: Once Upon a Time has almost nothing in common so far. I wonder if they bought the rights so no one else could make a competing show with the Fables concept. Or perhaps they're planning on using some of the same ideas and wanted to make sure they had the copyright issues out of the way. I'm kind of glad, though, that Once Upon a Time isn't the television version of Fables: I don't know that I'd trust any television network to do the graphic novels justice.
