i've known i'd be comin'
My apartment is clean, which has left me feeling quite accomplished---an excellent state of mind for this, the first day of The Week of the Killer Quizzes! Ready, Sev? It's just you and me...and the quizzes. Hard to believe we've been doing this for seven years now.

You Are Sandry!

Lady Sandrilene fa Toren is a stitch witch, a mage skilled with threadcraft of all sorts. She is one of the Circle of Magic Four, and was taught by Lark, another stitch witch. Sandry's parents died of smallpox, and she was locked away in an invisible room to protect her. Niko, being a sight mage, found her there and took her to Winding Circle.

You are a very friendly, cheerful person. However, if someone treats you or your friends badly, watch out! You always stand up for yourself. You are very loyal and value friendship greatly.
Which Tamora Pierce Character Are You?

I'm currently reading my way through all of Tamora Pierce's books, so I thought it might be fun to know which of her heroines I'm most like. I haven't gotten to the Circle of Magic series yet, so I can't speak to how accurate this is, but the description is certainly familiar. :) I even happen to love stitch crafts---which is not to say I'm especially good at them.

Chloroplast

The Philosopher

Your function is to transform the light into concrete, sensible information. You are much like the trusted Insider (Mitochondria) in the way that you are also very flexible and open minded. Your outer membrane is thinner than the inside membrane - you don't take criticism too harshly because you're very stable and secure within.
The Complete Organelle-Personality Quiz

The first time I took this, I got Golgi Apparatus, but with the change of one answer, I got Chloroplast. I suppose that means I'm somewhere in between the traffic director and the philosopher. ...Which sounds about right, actually.

Jazz

You are a lot like ballet but you are more fluid. You move to the beat INSIDE of you. Whatever the music moves you to do, your body does. You are in touch with yourself and very moved by many things in your life.
What Type of Dancer Are You?

Can't argue with that. And considering the rigidity of ballet and the emotional flow of jazz, this kind of echoes my organelle results, as well. While I'd love to learn ballroom dancing, especially the International Latin dances, the dancing I do in my living room has its roots in the handful of jazz dance lessons I took while I was a teenager. Sigh. I love to dance....

I offered Sev the keyboard, but he just sneered at me, which I've taken to mean he'd much rather sit in dark corners and make snide comments beneath his breath. If I'm interpreting his latest mutterings correctly, though, he says that while he objects to casting me in the role of mistress---really! he is a potions MASTER; I am not even competent at stirring anticlockwise...I forbore to explain the other meanings of the word "mistress"---he is very pleased to see you. He has some theories on the substitution of lacewings for damselflies in several potions, and he expects you capable of a much more sensible discussion about them than Certain Other Persons He Could Name.

Well, Sevvy dear, it depends on if you mean Chlorocyphidae or Pseudostigmatidae damselflies. I think that lacewings might be a suitable substitute for the Pseudostigmatidae, since their wings are broader like a lacewing, as long as the potion isn't intended to keep things in line. The fact that damselflies hold their wings parallel to their body and the lacewings hold their wings slightly tented may have disastrous consequences in, say, a potion designed to keep a flat belly. I mean, no one wants their belly to look like a tent! Might be nice for a practical joke... perhaps I should mention that to Fred or George*. Now, I don't want to hear any disparaging remarks about the Weasleys. You must admit that Fred and George, while still lots of fun, have matured a bit. And are much nicer to be around than their git of a brother, Ron.

*(In my world, both Weasley twins are alive.)

Well. He's just billowed off, muttering something about reflections and angles of light versus windows and lenses. So I think you've certainly set him thinking, though I couldn't say exactly what about. And I think he grunted about the Fred and George* thing, but these days that's mostly for form's sake. Though he loves to grumble about the twins' aptitude for chaos, and my unwarranted devotion to the quieter one (George), I think he's rather impressed by some of the potions applications they've discovered.

*(Perfectly reasonable! In my world, Severus Snape is alive, fond of Mai Tais, and willing to act as secretary parchment keeper for my Week of the Killer Quizzes.)
