amid the world of woven trees
And now for some Tolkienesque quizzes! (Sev is extremely proud of his good work; he won't ever admit it, but he's a huge Lord of the Rings fan. I think it's because deep down, he's a romantic---Faramir and Éowyn in the Houses of Healing just melts him into a puddle of black-robed goo. Right, Sev? ::glaring from the potions desk:: Right.)

The Kingdom of Gondor

The men of Gondor are admired for their bravery and power over other men. Many great kings are of the bloodline of Gondor, including Isildur, defeater of Sauron. The greatest king of men, Aragorn, was a direct descendant of Isildur, and he dared to walk the Paths of the Dead and awaken the army there, coming to the aid of his people and returning only for the second time of his rightful kingdom. He took his place as King of Gondor after the final battle against the Dark Lord, and brought Gondor a time of peace and prosperity. The men of Gondor adorn their guards with the wings of great sea birds, and their banner is a white tree with seven white stars crowning it.
From Which Realm of Middle-Earth Are You?

I've always felt I'd be one of the Rohirrim, despite my extreme allergy to horses, but the character I identify with the most is Faramir, so perhaps Gondor *would* be my Middle-earth home. In any case, I can certainly imagine myself living happily in Ithilien.

Ori

34% Extroversion, 72% Intuition, 47% Attachment and 38% Organisation!

Congratulations, you are most like Ori, younger brother to Nori and Dori, and scribe for the Company, chronicling the Quest to the Lonely Mountain. Ori is a talented artist; his passion lies in writing and drawing. Typically unconventional, you are an imaginative idealist guided by your own dreams and beliefs rather than sticking to the monotonous conventions of society. You value your authenticity and originality, and enjoy expressing yourself through your work and the arts. You have good language skills and take an interest in more scholarly pursuits than your peers.

Despite first impressions as tranquil and reserved, you are deeply passionate about causes that are important to you. It takes a lot of dedication to trek to the Lonely Mountain for the sake of documentative accuracy. You pursue your hobbies with selfless devotion, and can be inspired to make extraordinary sacrifices for your ideals and what is positive and good for society.

Your soft-spoken and reserved nature, coupled with your off-beat tendencies, can lead to you being misunderstood by others. This can be difficult as you desire to please your friends and family - you value harmony and are well aware of others’ feelings - and as a result you put on a persona to mask your differences, creating an inner turmoil over your true identity. Ori is used to being bossed around by his older brother Dori and abides it with his politeness. But never forget that your differences - your individuality, sensitivity and dedication - are in fact your greatest strengths.
Which Dwarf from The Hobbit are you?

Ori kinda would be the INFP dwarf, wouldn't he? That is, this result parallels the INFP descriptions I've read. And except for the masking my individuality with a false persona, this is pretty much me. ...Plus, Ori's fingerless gloves are awesome!

The Sindar

You are one of the Sindar, the noble Grey Elves of Middle-earth. Wise and fair, you are like a young birch tree in the morning sun. You love deep shadows of the great forests and the stars of Elbereth Gilthoniel the most. But beware the Sea. Once you hear the crying of the gulls your heart will be turned in to the West forever.

Noted Elves of your race: Legolas Greenleaf, Celeborn, Gildor Inglorion, Luthien Tinuviel and Elu Thingol

-Berio i dur Belain i ven lin ne vorn!- (May the power of Valar protect you on your path in the darkness)
Which Tolkien Elven Race Do You Belong To?

I just encountered Gildor in my rereading of Fellowship and liked him quite a lot. And from what I've read about the different elven races, the Sindar's a pretty good fit for me: more anchored to Middle-earth than most of the other elven races, and yet still helpless to resist when the West calls them home.

We get to be neighbors in Gondor! :) Woot!!

Dwarf? I can see this. When it comes to daily life, I like things in their place. But I also love the spontaneity of road trips, so there's that. :)

Dori!
25% Extroversion, 44% Intuition, 38% Attachment and 50% Organisation!

Congratulations, you are most like DORI, elder brother to Nori and Ori, and member of the Company of Thorin Oakenshield. Dori spends most of his time looking out for the rest of the Company and keeping everything organised, in particular making sure ill-fortune hasn’t befallen Ori. You are a neat and orderly person; you like maintaining a sense of structure in all aspects of your life to make sure everything goes according to plan. You are reliable and dutiful, and will always honour your word when you pledge yourself to a task. No excessive flourish or fanfare is wasted in your work; you are very efficient in time and cost with your impeccably practical point of view.

Dori is somewhat out of his depth with the tumultuous Quest, preferring a work environment where things are done “by the book”. You like to know what the rules of the game are in advance, and rely on familiarity and past experiences to guide you rather than imagination and intuition. You have faultless logic and enjoy methodically reasoning through problems, and will persist until your task is done.
Your dedication to your work constitutes a large portion of your life. Even though you are relatively quiet and serious, you are rarely isolated and know exactly where you stand amongst your peers. Your friends appreciate your calm and stable nature, and know they can always count on you to be there for them, and lend them some of your strength.

Also, we get to be neighbors as elves. Nifty!

Neighbors in Gondor, neighbors as elves, *and* your dwarf is my dwarf's older brother! Apparently our Tolkien selves are rather similar. :) I do love your Dori result, though. Not that you're quite as structured and by the book, but I like imagining you filling the Dori role on the Quest. You'd be efficient and practical and calm, but you'd also make sure we had a lot of fun.

Oddly enough, I am very much a Dori in my D&D games. I've never gamemastered, but I am the 'secretary.' I keep a notebook and note our adventures, who killed what when, what loot we've gotten, etc, while we're gaming. :)

So no one can argue over their fair share of the treasure with a Dori along. And I'd imagine the quest would be a very well-provisioned one---with just the right amount of food, weaponry, horse fodder, utensils, and the extra laid by for an emergency. Excellent!
