'neath heated brow
Today is a hot, sticky taffy pull of a day, the sort of day when I wish Sev's dungeon were a little less...fictional...and a little more accessibly cool and damp. ::glare from the darkness:: Don't look at me like that, Sev: just because you make an excellent secretary doesn't mean I'm completely delusional, and the fact remains that while you are in your nice dark, dank dungeon, I'm here desperate for a breeze while I wait for the AC to be fixed. Luckily for me, quizzes are a rather excellent distraction in these hot and endless hours.

Guinan

Your capacity to listen to others is equaled only by your ability to provide sage, thoughtful advice — which likely stems from how alone you are in the galaxy. Also, you probably make a mean cocktail.
Which Recurring Star Trek: The Next Generation Character Are You?

I would totally be Guinan! Fixing people stuff to make them feel better, asking thought-provoking questions, occasionally dispensing advice---that's me all over. Plus, I can't imagine working on a starship except in some service-meets-recreation capacity. ...Seriously, why doesn't the Enterprise have a librarian?

Which Divergent Faction Are You?

With Divergent factions, I always feel as if I'm trying to choose the lesser of five evils: not one of them feels like a particularly useful way to view the world. But I usually end up torn between Erudite, where my curiosity would be encouraged even as it's shoved in highly technical (instead of philosophical or artistic) directions, or Abnegation, where I would be powerfully moved by the work I did even as my sense of self suffocated under the weight of the faction's mandatory sameness. I think Abnegation would make me a better person, though, so it's nice to see that reflected in my quiz result.

You Are Self-Aware

You are a deeply introspective person. You believe that the most important thing is to be true to yourself. You are quite vulnerable, but only because you work hard to let down your walls.

You are emotionally honest at all costs. You know how to express your truth. You have a serious side, but you also can be uproariously funny. You have a good sense of irony.
The Zen Rock Test

That's incredibly accurate. Except for the walls part: I'm not entirely sure I possess any at all. The only way I've found to protect myself from people or situations that have proven hurtful is to stay away from them completely. I'm no good at tucking part of myself away; you either have me or you don't.

I love Guinan. I could totally see you in that role. And why isn't there a ship's librarian? I've seen real physical books in episodes, so everything can't be digital! Someone has to mind the books! And as I write this, I'm realizing that there may well have been a librarian, but he or she probably spent most of the red alerts reading in the library with a fire extinguisher handy so we never saw them.

I totally agree with you about choosing Divergent factions. Too bad there wasn't an Abnegdite faction that we could both be a part of.

I've always admired that you are always yourself. I suppose a side effect of having the real you always out there is that you can be more easily hurt.

Just the thought of hiding in the library with a fire extinguisher...perfect! And that would certainly explain why we never saw him/her. As for the Divergent factions, maybe we could make our own subfaction within Abnegation or Erudite? Complete with secret headquarters and codes and handshakes....
