year nine....
And so we arrive at nine years of livejournaling. (Nine years? Already?) Even though I've been rather quiet of late, I'm still so thankful for this sliver of virtual space. Happy birthday, my lj, and may you continue to be a peaceful, encouraging place for me to lament and laugh in the coming year.

I, too, have been incredibly quiet. For a long while. Though I still read LJ regularly.

I miss you! We were cleaning out the various offices Friday (starting to, anyway) at work. We found some of the old photo albums, including the one of the last Harry Potter release. I took a couple of the photos, two of which had you in them. Good times.

That release party is one of my fondest memories of working there...and I have a lot. :) I miss you too! And I think about you guys working there, boxing up the store, every day. I keep mentally pushing against the end of the month---I don't want it to get here. Do most of you know what you'll be doing after you leave?

(And I'm so glad you're still reading, even if you're quiet. I write mostly for myself these days, but it's nice to know the occasional reader stops in, especially when that reader's you.)

Most of us are taking a week or two off. I, myself, am running away to California for a couple of weeks, visiting friends. It's gonna be a road trip. Always wanted to do a cross-country road trip! What better time than when one is on severance??!
Other than that... filing for unemployment and doing the whole job search thing. *sigh* Most of us don't have anything lined up yet. Those that did are already gone.

My last day, incidentally, is this Friday. I am über sad, as I expected to be working another week. But, in the long run, this is better. Corporate calculates our severance amount based on the actual hours worked during your last 13 weeks. So, instead of 4 partial weeks, we're doing 2 full time weeks. Makes the average better. The managers are working an extra week to take care of the last little things. I'm going to see if they'll let me stop by on the last day to take last photos. I posted some that I took today on FB, if you want to be further saddened.

And whenever I see that you've posted, it brightens my day.

Speaking of road trips... email me or FB message me where exactly you live. Perhaps and maybe if it's not horrendously off the route, we could stop by...??

I would love it if you could stop by! I'll send you my exact location as soon as I can get into my FB page....

But, wow...this Friday. I'm glad shortening the time will help with the severance---very, very glad!---but that's coming up so fast. And though I know it won't eliminate the sadness, I'd think that seeing friends and going on a trip you've always wanted to take might ease the loss a bit. Still, I'll be thinking of you (and everyone) this Friday....
