a honey badger my brother is not
As you may recall, last year around this time my brother was in the hospital with a broken leg. All turned out well, but it was rather more excitement than the Week of the Killer Quizzes really needed. A sentiment with which Elessar apparently doesn't agree. He's once more in the hospital, this time recovering from being bitten by a rattlesnake. (Yes. A rattlesnake.) Fortunately, the snake only appears to have snagged him with one fang and he's responding very well to the antivenin, but his leg is still extremely swollen, so we're not sure how much of an impact this will have on the rest of his summer.

I do feel that these incidents appear to be decreasing in severity, so maybe next year he'll only have gotten a mild concussion. Or, since he seems to be keeping the injuries to his lower legs, maybe he'll trip over barbed wire or get shin splints or something. I don't doubt his ability to discover something creatively painful, that's for sure....

But, to return to today's purpose---Sev, the first parchment! In honor of my brother, of course....

What Kind of Snake Are You?

Just 'cuz you can't see me enjoying life doesn't mean I'm not! I'm probably just writing stories in my head while you think I'm avoiding confrontation. So there. It's funny, though: the children's program we had at the library today was all about animals, and the guy running it draped a ball python around the neck of any kid who wanted to try it. We had two-year-olds beaming with a great big sleepy python draped over their shoulders.

Sir Didymus

43 goodness, 29 Style, 43 Chutzpah and 14 Magic

You are Sir Didymus from Labyrinth.

Bold, brave, and perhaps a little foolhardy... you are the valiant Sir Didymus! You are not afraid of anything, even gate-guarding giant golems. Your faithful sheepdog mount, Ambrosius, is a bit cowardly, but you don't let that stop you. Let us be brothers henceforth, and fight for the right as one!

Your opposite is The Evil Genius from Time Bandits.
The 80s Fantasy Movie Personality Test

I'm definitely afraid of many things, but for some reason this resonates. Maybe because in a lot of ways I'm a protector, an advocate, a sentry? Especially the older I get and the less I care what people think. I won't necessarily stand up for myself in every situation, but if you hurt or threaten a loved one...I may not know how to end you, but I'll certainly try. :) I'd probably take a similar role in a fantasy film.

You Are Mu-Lan!

Hua Mu-Lan was the beautiful daughter of a Chinese general. He had no sons, so he taught Mu-Lan all he knew about martial arts and warfare strategies. When the Emperor called upon the general to lead the troops into battle, he was unable to go because of failing health. Being the devoted and dutiful daughter that she was, Mu-Lan disguised herself as a man and took her father's place on the battlefield. She won all of the battles, and was awarded the rank of general.

While the war raged on, she fell in love with a fellow officer. He had no idea she was a woman. After the war was over, he came to visit his "comrade in arms," and she revealed her true identity to him. Her goodness and beauty were irresistible and he fell in love with her. They were married and lived to a ripe old age.
Which Woman of Legend Are You?

Interesting that these last two quizzes directly contradict the first one. I'm afraid of confrontation *and* I'm fearless and bold and a warrior. Awesome! Maybe I'd a be a peaceful snake but a kick-ass legend or fictional character? I can see how that would work, I guess. And I do think Mu-Lan and her devotion to family suits me.

So, we are the same animal again! Yay for Ball Pythons!

However, we also get to be arch-nemeses!
The Evil Genius
You scored 0 goodness, 50 Style, 29 Chutzpa and 57 Magic!
You are The Evil Genius from Time Bandits.
You want little else other than magic and power... and to hold on to the most fabulous object in the world. You have power over technology, have a flip-top head, and can turn people into pigs like Circe. You have a wicked laugh. Wicked cool, that is.
Plus, you're David Warner... and that's awesome.
Your opposite is Atreyu from The Neverending Story.

Cleopatra! Cleopatra was the beautiful Queen of Egypt - known for her famous love affairs with Julius Caesar and Marc Antony, and her famous death - suicide by the poisonous bite of an asp.
---I am ok with being a cunning and ruthless beauty.

Arch-nemeses?! Fantastic! I've always wanted an arch-nemesis! And one who can warp from David Warner to a "cunning and ruthless beauty"---that's wicked! In more ways than one.... :D

Oh dear! I can't believe he's hurt himself again! And bit by a rattlesnake! That's pretty scary sounding. I'm glad to hear that he's doing okay. I hope it heals quick so he can enjoy at least part of the summer. Thank goodness they are decreasing in severity. My fingers are crossed that the worst he gets next year is a bruise or two.

Ooo, draped in a snake! That's a pretty nifty children's program. I don't ever remember doing things like that as a kid at the library, but my cousin says she remembers petting a snake at the Helen Plum. But Ball Python sounds cool. Anything with python sounds cool. And being shy or quiet does not equal doesn't live life! So there, indeed.

I love Sir Didymus! I you're right about it fitting because I could definitely see you standing up for those you care about. I think they could add something like honorable and pure of heart.

I like that the two main characteristics that they note are courage and devotion; that definitely fits you.
