As you may recall, last year around this time my brother was in the hospital with a broken leg. All turned out well, but it was rather more excitement than the Week of the Killer Quizzes really needed. A sentiment with which Elessar apparently doesn't agree. He's once more in the hospital, this time recovering from being bitten by a rattlesnake. (Yes. A rattlesnake.) Fortunately, the snake only appears to have snagged him with one fang and he's responding very well to the antivenin, but his leg is still extremely swollen, so we're not sure how much of an impact this will have on the rest of his summer.
I do feel that these incidents appear to be decreasing in severity, so maybe next year he'll only have gotten a mild concussion. Or, since he seems to be keeping the injuries to his lower legs, maybe he'll trip over barbed wire or get shin splints or something. I don't doubt his ability to discover something creatively painful, that's for sure....
But, to return to today's purpose---Sev, the first parchment! In honor of my brother, of course....

What Kind of Snake Are You?
Just 'cuz you can't see me enjoying life doesn't mean I'm not! I'm probably just writing stories in my head while you think I'm avoiding confrontation. So there. It's funny, though: the children's program we had at the library today was all about animals, and the guy running it draped a ball python around the neck of any kid who wanted to try it. We had two-year-olds beaming with a great big sleepy python draped over their shoulders.
I'm definitely afraid of many things, but for some reason this resonates. Maybe because in a lot of ways I'm a protector, an advocate, a sentry? Especially the older I get and the less I care what people think. I won't necessarily stand up for myself in every situation, but if you hurt or threaten a loved one...I may not know how to end you, but I'll certainly try. :) I'd probably take a similar role in a fantasy film.
Interesting that these last two quizzes directly contradict the first one. I'm afraid of confrontation *and* I'm fearless and bold and a warrior. Awesome! Maybe I'd a be a peaceful snake but a kick-ass legend or fictional character? I can see how that would work, I guess. And I do think Mu-Lan and her devotion to family suits me.

You are not afraid of anything, even gate-guarding giant golems. Your faithful sheepdog mount, Ambrosius, is a bit cowardly, but you don't let that stop you. Let us be brothers henceforth, and fight for the right as one! Your opposite is The Evil Genius from Time Bandits. |

You Are Mu-Lan!While the war raged on, she fell in love with a fellow officer. He had no idea she was a woman. After the war was over, he came to visit his "comrade in arms," and she revealed her true identity to him. Her goodness and beauty were irresistible and he fell in love with her. They were married and lived to a ripe old age. |
